"I use photography to aid in my research of Hummingbirds. I generally monitor their populations, habitat usage, and estimate age based on their feathers and moult, among other things. From this photo, you can tell that this is a young bird and most likely a female. I try to use these macros and the rest of my work, to get more people to appreciate the nature around us, and to better connect them with the scientific community. I’d like to think that creative imagery will get more people interested in the sciences!” Image captured by Sean Graesser, @gourmetbiologist on Instagram. Shot on the EOS 5D Mark III with the EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM at ISO 320, f/16, 1/160.
