Kayaking Past Rivers of Lava: Watch these dare-devil kayakers test their luck in the vicinity of Hawaii's Kilauea volcano, where lava meets the sea.
Sure there are idiots in these world , putting not just themselves in dangers but others just to show off and have their faces in the internet . The fumes are toxic and the lava delta is unstable .
I've been to that volcano 15 times, and was there in the 1990s when the lava was running inside the national park. The National Park Service laid out a path and hikers could literally get within a few feet of the running lava. Because it is a shield volcano, rather than a stratovolcano, the lava runs slowly and is not explosive on land. When the lava flows into the water, contact between the hot lava and the land and the lava melting the underlying rock, creates small "explosions" and underwater landslides.
This is stupid and dangerous.
