Devils look to sweep home-and-home with Columbus

Columbus visits New Jersey Friday, three days after the Devils won 4-1 at Nationwide Arena.

After a day off following the completion of a lengthy road trip, the Devils were back at practice Thursday morning.

The team is preparing to host the Columbus Blue Jackets, just three days after posting a victory in Columbus that pushed them back atop the Metropolitan Division. The Devils have a big weekend ahead with another back-to-back- scenario, also visiting the Rangers in New York Saturday night.

Coach John Hynes hosted a 45-minute high-intensity practice that wasn't without a temporary casualty. Defensemen Will Butcher was struck by a puck and had to be helped off the ice by his teammates. Butcher made it to the bench before going down the tunnel with training staff. Luckily, the rookie was able to return and finish off practice, quarterbacking the second power play unit.

"We won the first game, and any time you play a team back to back, usually the game becomes more intense. We talked about process over outcome."
