The correct answer here was c) awkward. Did you get it right? It can't be b) because the -ed form of the adjective describes the way you feel, not the thing that causes you to feel that way - it was embarrasing/I was embarrassed. And a) doesn't make sense - if something is distracting it stops you from concentrating on what you should be doing. There's no reason why 'nobody speaking and everybody looking at their shoes' would have that effect.
