British architect and collector Sir John Soane was born #onthisday in 1753. Famous for his grand and ambitious neoclassical designs, Soane also amassed a collection of antiquities from around the world. He remodelled his home with the bold façade shown in this print, and a maze-like interior. You can visit his house – now the nearby Sir John Soane's Museum – and see his fascinating collection still displayed in the way he intended.
