Maybe he isn’t as unprecedented a leader as we think. All hail!
We turn now to the chapter on Caligula. As the saying goes, history doesn’t repeat itself, but it does often rhyme.
While Mr. Trump asks why America would want immigrants from sh*thole countries, it is enough already that the words come from the two-way sh*thole bordered by his sun-lamped lips serving sphincter duty between his nostrils and chin, disconnected from a struggling brain suffocated by megalomaniacal narcissism. Our country's challenges are much more important than this undisciplined child who spits at your dinner guests, sh*ts on your floor and taunt you to put him in his place while wearing a grinning mask he believes renders him immune to the accountability the rest of us are held to. Those responsible to put a stop to this clever cretinism will go down with him. Mr. Trump has done for the dignity of the Office of the U.S. Presidency what John Wayne Gacy did for Birthday Clowns. Find where this child hides and washes his money, fire him, and issue him an orange jump suite matching his general color hues. Respect his human rights as a Federal prisoner, and allow Mr. Putin conjugal visits. Then let us disburse mental health dollars for every well-intentioned present and former staffers who tolerated and manufactured lie after damage-controlling lie to enable the uninformed stupidity, recklessness, and semi-literacy of a common, Silver Spooned, *sshole. It is not about him. I believe most of his staffers love their country. I can't imagine the personal soul-selling they accepted and chose, just to work in the miasma of that fetid environment. Hopefully, our senior military officers and politicians are ready to smack said child's fingers from the nuclear button. This man-child will gladly exchange his need for worship with notoriety - and the bloodletting of our armed forces - as well as innocent civilian populations in South Korea and proximal countries. We passed 'enough is enough' long ago. It is time to cease and desist the normalization of cretinism at our highest levels. Shout out also to Mr. Pence, 2nd in line, who admonished prayer instead sensible gun control checks and balances after the Las Vegas massacre. How faithful and Christian of him. I own a few rifles and pistols, love target shooting, and am law-abiding. Why would I have any problem with sensible gun legislation, especially after every massacre and murder committed with a firearm? Mr. Pence exemplifies religious cowardice, in contrast to those trying to live the ideals of their faith through helping the needy, feeding the poor, clothing the hungry, and showing the psychologically broken they are still of value and worthy of Love. Like that fellow Jesus did two thousand years ago, remember? How is the exclusive co-opting of abstractions like "Family" and "Social Values" coming along? Surely Jesus, if not Papa Yahweh, is raising a Godly eyebrow? Your own religion calls this Idolatry. Isn't this one of the sure-bet deal breakers for your loving (but 'Just') God's triggers which, in his perfect Godliness, still fails to transcend human jealousy and anger? Me thinks humans created Him in their own very biased and tribal images. Somewhere in your Bible, it states, "By their deeds you shall know them", to which I humbly contribute, "By the Consequences and Affects of their deeds....". You have become ancient Romans hypnotized by blood (cage fighting) and nationalized a game of territorial acquisition (football). American's social norms and measures of success were nailed in 19th Century definitions of Philistinism. Amen from an Agnostic, Brothers and Sisters. Hmm. If there is Hell, I have strong Faith there is a special corner for anal, rigid practitioners like Pence and his ilk. Regarding his theatrical piety over whom he'll dine with, or not - how friggin Freudian can you get? Sometimes colossal repression is just colossal repression. Sweet Jesus. Does he glove up and tuck in his little Mr. President in with a modesty tissue when he is at the urinal? I'll bet he can't complete the relaxation required to complete this primitive task with anyone waiting their turn behind him. Oy.
The Oval Office Cabinet Fiasco: Mr. Trump’s declaration of his genius was of a piece with the sycophants rodeo in the White House cabinet room last June, when his consuls and lictors took turns lavishing praise on him in terms to make even Caesar blush.
This line the best and so true:
a note of consolation, in an earlier scene in “I, Claudius.” Caligula’s great-uncle Tiberius, another beauty of a Caesar, informs him: “I will make you my successor, Gaius Caligula. Rome deserves you.”
“Is that a joke?” Caligula replies.
Not yet, but it will be.”
The Trump brand is branded as another bad Caesar.
Fascinating. I just re-read the chapter on Caligula and it is indeed chillingly familiar. His derogatory name calling of one of his security chiefs was finally the cause of his undoing.

Donald J. Trump appears to believe that if we just changed our rules, droves of Norwegians would flee the oppression of generous pensions and quality health care to become American citizens. By Gail C..
From the Editorial Board: Where to begin? How about with a simple observation: The president of the United States is a racist.
